20 Hilarious April Fools Day Pranks for Kids

March 24, 2015 By Erica Leggiero, M.S. Ed. 11 Comments

April Fools Day is almost here, and I can’t wait to play some fun tricks on my little boy. I’ve gathered up a list of my favorite April Fools Day pranks for kids. These are the most hilarious tricks and pranks for kids, in my opinion.

Many of these pranks are super easy to pull off and will make your child laugh, hopefully! I’ve personally never played an april fools day trick on my little boy yet, and now that he’s 7, I think this is the year I’ll start.

You know your child the best, so choose the pranks that you think they’ll love the most. Try not to choose the ones that you think will scare your child if they don’t like being scared or make them upset. My little boy always cries when he gets startled, so I’m going to hopefully avoid tears.

I hope this list brings you a ton of great ideas for easy to pull off April Fools day pranks.

In 1500’s France revised its calendar, moving the start of the year from the end of March to January 1. Some people refused to accept the change, and continued to celebrate New Years Day on April 1. Pranksters would surreptitiously stick paper fish to their backs. The victims of this prank were thus called April Fish — which, to this day, is still the French term for April Fools — and so the tradition was born.
