Clothespin Turkey Craft

November 16, 2017 By Erica Leggiero, M.S. Ed. Leave a Comment

Thanksgiving is such a fun time of year. For me, it’s the mark of the beginning of the holiday season, and I always look forward to the amazing food! What’s also so great about Thanksgiving is the cute turkey crafts that I get to make with all of my preschool students, like this adorable Clothespin Turkey Craft!

What I love the most about this craft is that it’s not made with traditional feathers like all the other turkey crafts are. It’s so simple and easy that it doesn’t require many supplies. Let’s get started!

Supplies:

This post contains affiliate links so you can easily grab what you need. I get a small kickback for sharing the products with you, which keeps my blog going.

Cardstock (Autumn colors)

Brown Paint

Paintbrush

Clothespins

Glue

Scissors

Googly Eyes

Instructions:

  1. Download and print the template onto heavy cardstock.

  2. Cut the template out.

  3. Paint the clothespins brown. Let them dry completely.

  4. Invite your children to trace the feather template onto colored cardstock.

  5. Let your kids cut the feathers out with safety scissors. This is a great craft for teaching them fine motor skills. Set the feathers to the side.

  6. Trace the wattle onto red cardstock and the beak onto orange cardstock and cut out. Set aside.

  7. Glue the wattle, beak, and googly eyes onto the turkey.

  8. Next, glue the feathers onto the back of the turkey. Alternate colors.

  9. Your clothespin turkey craft is complete!  This would make an awesome place setting for family members attending Thanksgiving dinner!
