5 Reasons To Love The Emily Ley Simplified Planner

July 27, 2015 By Erica Leggiero, M.S. Ed. Leave a Comment

I’m just going to be upfront and honest right here, right now: I’m a planner girl. I love, love, love planners. I have to have them in my life, or else…well, I shudder to imagine what would happen. I search high and low for the perfect planner, and sometimes I even cheat on one planner with another planner. I know, I’m terrible.

I’ve recently been using a different planner for about 2 years, and I’ve finally decided to make the switch. The “other” planner just didn’t make the cut, and it wasn’t suiting my needs anymore, so I started the frantic search for the planner that would get to hold the coveted spot on my desk for 2016. In walked the Emily Ley Simplified Planner and my heart went thump-thump.

I immediately followed Emily Ley on all social media and began stalking, er following her story! She’s an amazing woman, y’all! She’s got it going on, and I mean that in the business sense. More on that below!

5 Reasons To Love The Emily Ley Simplified Planner

Nope, I didn’t get compensated for this. All opinions are my own. I purchased my own Simplified Planner and just can’t keep it a secret. In fact, Emily Ley has no idea I’m writing this review. 🙂

#1 It arrives beautifully

Right off the bat, you’ll notice that your planner comes in a navy and gold keepsake box. Oh my gosh, y’all, the box is beautiful. I actually purchased my planner through a retailer here in Cincinnati, but they all come the same way, whether you buy them at a store or order online. The keepsake box is a great place to keep your year’s mementos and then a perfect place to store your planner when the year is done.

#2 It’s colorful

I can’t speak for all women, but I.love.color. I need it in my life. The Simplified Planner is full of bright, beautiful colors. There are the monthly colored tabs along the side, as well as splashes of color on the inside on every single page. I chose the Happy Stripe cover (more on the cover option later) and ordered the Flags Sticker Set, so these were  just one more way for me to get some more color!

#3 It’s Simple

Women have a lot going on. We wake up each morning with to-do lists longer than our kids’ wish list to Santa. We don’t need anything else to complicate our life (cough, cough social media). We need simple. Beautiful, but simple. This planner is just that. There is a monthly glance and a weekly or daily glance (depending on the version you buy). The pages are streamlined and easy to view at-a-glance. There are spots for that day’s activities, a to-do list, and box for dinner plans. And Sunday’s come with a Weekly Prep Checklist to get you prepared for next week.

#4 It’s Inpsirational

The planner features quotes and inspiration in the top corner of every page, but more so is the story that went into this planner. After following Emily Ley on Instagram for a few months, I could already tell what an inspiration she was, and that pours out into these planners. She gets it. She’s a mom, a wife, a career woman, and a girl with tons of friends who just gets it. She is a self-taught graphic designer and created this planner after having her first baby. She also struggled with infertility and knows how much infertility sucks. As a woman who is currently in the throes of infertility, Emily’s story gives me hope…she just had the cutest twins ever!

#5 It’s Customizable

The Simplified Planner comes in two different options (daily or weekly) in 3 different covers (mint dot, happy stripe, and gold pineapple). I personally chose the 17 month Weekly planner because I like to see my week at a glance. And it starts in August, so I like that I can chose to start it with the new school year or wait until January 2016 and start using it then. There are also some cute accessories you can purchase for your planner: flag sticker set, page markers, stretchy bands, and mini notebooks. This is an easy way to make the planner “yours!”

As you can see, I love this planner! Isn’t it beautiful?! What I love most is how cute it looks on my desk! It’s my happy place where I spend most of my time working, so I need my planner to just fit right in, and this one is it!
