Children’s Book Week-Wednesday

May 6, 2015 By Erica Leggiero, M.S. Ed. Leave a Comment

Yay! It’s Wednesday and we are continuing our celebration of Children’s Book Week! This holiday is a national literacy initiative to celebrate all of the wonderful books that have been written for young children!

Many of you already know about my love of reading, but in case you’re new here, guess what? I LOVE READING! 🙂 In fact, it’s what I got my M.Ed. in from University of Missouri (yes, Go Mizzou!)

Ok, so this week, I’m pumped because I get to share my favorite children books with all of you! Each day I’ll showcase a new book, give a quick synopsis of the book, and include a link so you can purchase the book if you don’t already have it.

There are so many AMAZING books out there, how can I seriously just pick 5? I’ll try my best!

Today’s book recommendation are any of the mucho, mucho funny Skippyjon Jones Books by Judy Schachner!

Some of our favorites are:

  • Skippyjon Jones–This is the original book. If you don’t have this one, I recommend starting with it 🙂
  • Skippyjon Jones Lost In Spice
  • Skippyjon Jones In The Doghouse
  • Skippyjon Jones In Mummy Trouble

Check out ALL of the Skippyjon Jones books here!

Why do we love Skippyjon?

Children will be especially delighted by the words and humor, the illustrations are buoyant and colorful, these books are great for read-alouds, and they are a great multicultural book option!

What other books did we recommend this week?

Monday: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Tuesday: Elephant and Piggie

Wednesday: Skippyjon Jones

Which Skippyjon Jones books do you have? We’d love to hear from you!
