Gift Guide: Gross Motor Toys

November 19, 2015 By Erica Leggiero, M.S. Ed. Leave a Comment

Whether or not you have kids of your own, you probably have at least one little one to buy presents for this holiday season. Here are our top picks for toys that will promote gross motor development.

Gross motor development is the ability to use bigger movements, such as jumping, kicking, running, hopping-basically using the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet.

Wooden Balance Board-This toy promotes balancing, and tests your reflexes and reactions. It’s great for indoor or outdoor use.

Razor Jr. Scooter– The 3 wheel design on this scooter helps provide stability for new riders. But in order to ride, your child must use their leg muscles to scoot along.

Kidoozie Foam Pogo Jumper– This fun pogo jumper is made of foam, and is great fun for children to hop along using their leg muscles.

Crocodile Hop Floor Game-This is a fun gross motor game that engages minds and muscles! Teaches colors, shapes, counting, problem solving, and following simple directions.

Monster Feet– These are so fun! These monster feet raise your child 4.75 inches in height and requires them to use their arms to pull the nylon cords to keep them walking. Great for indoor or outdoor play!

Balance Bike-Balance bikes require your child to use all their muscles. They are a great way to build leg strength and upper body strength. And an easier way to teach a child to ride a bike with no training wheels!

Green Toys Jump Rope-There is absolutely nothing wrong with a simple jump rope.

Rody Horse-This toy has been around for 30 years, and is dearly loved by any child lucky enough to get one.

I hope this list helps make your holiday shopping easier this year!
